Moscow to St Petersburg Cruise

There’s no better time to experience Russian reality with something a little different from our extended fleet. From Moscow to St Petersburg, it’s a cultural haven and one not to be missed. Join us as we sail through an intricate blend of lakes, rivers and canals overlooking picture-perfect scenery of the largest country in the world. We perfectly capture the opulence and history of ancient Russia – we promise it’s a sightseer’s dream.

Day 1: UK – Moscow
Make your own way to Heathrow Terminal 5 and join us for a direct flight to Moscow Domodedova airport, which takes around four hours. An awaiting coach transfers us to our cruise ship, where we meet the captain and his crew.

Day 2: Moscow
After breakfast you can board our coach for an included orientation tour of Moscow, with free time in Red Square, GUM department store, St Basil’s Cathedral and the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. You also have the opportunity to visit the Kremlin and one of its cathedrals. Dinner is served back onboard our ship.

Day 3: Moscow
Enjoy a free day in Moscow with a choice of optional excursions to purchase onboard, such as a transfer back into the city, a visit to the Tretyagov Gallery or Sergiev Posad Monastery. Early this evening we set course through the locks of the spectacular Moscow canal to meet the mighty Volga river.

Day 4: Uglich
While cruising along the Volga, keep a look out for the delightful view of the green and blue domes that signify our arrival at Uglich. Our included guided walking tour of Uglich introduces us to its Kremlin, Transfiguration Cathedral and the fascinating story surrounding the Church of St Demetrios on the Blood. Our cruise continues overnight towards Yaroslavl.

Day 5: Yaroslavl
Breakfast time marks our arrival in Yaroslavl, one of the best preserved Golden Ring towns, which stretches for 18 miles along both banks of the river. We enjoy an included coach tour of the towns and some free time to visit the local outdoor market, before returning to our ship for lunch. We cast off in the early afternoon and cruise towards Goritsy.

Day 6: Goritsy
On arrival at Goritsy you can join our coach for an included excursion to nearby Kirillov, visiting the 14th-century Monastery of St Cyril on the White Lake, which is famous for its Museum of Icons. We cast off during the afternoon and travel along the Volga-Baltic canal, as we continue our route to cross the length of the White Lake towards Kizhi on Lake Onega.

Day 7: Kizhi
Enjoy the scenery as we cruise along Lake Onega, among the majestic Karelian countryside, and make a late afternoon stop at the fairytale island of Kizhi, which is celebrated for its world heritage open air museum of wooden architecture. We cast off in the evening and sail back across Lake Onega to join the Svir river, cruising overnight towards Mandrogi.

Day 8: Mandrogi
The serene village of Mandrogi is a favourite stop for cruise ships, featuring an assortment of gingerbread-like architecture consisting of houses, workshops and museums – including one devoted to vodka. Here you can purchase local crafts such as Matryoshka dolls, lace and ceramics. After our visit we continue cruising overnight towards St Petersburg.

Days 9-11: St Petersburg
We leave Lake Ladoga and enter the broad Neva river, which leads us to St Petersburg – Russia’s ‘window to the west’. During our three days in St Petersburg you can enjoy an included orientation coach tour and included visits to the magnificent Imperial Palace at Peterhof and the incomparable Hermitage Museum – one of the oldest and largest museums in the world. Additional excursions are available to purchase onboard and include coach transfers to the city centre, a trip to Pushkin to visit Catherine’s Palace and Park, and St Petersburg by night. The highlight of our final night onboard will include the captain’s farewell dinner.

Day 12: St Petersburg – UK
This morning we bid farewell to our captain and crew and travel to St Petersburg Pulkovo airport for our return flight to Heathrow.
